POSITION: PHYSICIAN STAFF – FAMILY PRACTICE/INTERNAL MEDICINE

REPORTS TO: CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $266,000.00 – $373,000.00 per year

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating patients in accordance with recognized community standards. Physicians are members of patient-centered care teams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

Administrative

  1. Assists in monitoring and approving the appropriateness of the pharmaceutical prescriptions of the midlevel and performs chart review on their medical records.

Clinical

  1. Examines, diagnoses, and treats patients in accordance with recognized community standards.
  2. Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, consultation, and diagnostic tests for patients as appropriate.
  3. Adequately documents care provided in the patient’s medical record immediately following each visit.
  4. Provides appropriate clinical information on patient visits to permit appropriate grant or insurance billing.
  5. Provides on-call telephone triage as scheduled.
  6. Adheres to the IBCC Mission, Vision, and Values, Standards of Conduct and HIPAA principles.
  7. Consistently adheres to and/or exceeds IBCC’s communication guidelines and expectations with patients, peers, and supervisor
  8. As an integral part of a patient-centered care team, solicits and respects patients’ values and preferences; ensures patients are recognized as members of their care team and have an active voice in decisions about their care; builds positive relationships with patients and staff, and participates in patient-centered medical home team meetings and trainings
  9. Participates in continuous quality improvement activities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Possesses license to practice medicine in the State of California.
  2. Board Certified or Board Eligible in Primary Care Physician.
  3. Two years experience as provider in an outpatient clinic, preferably community based.
  4. Excellent communication and inter-personal and teamwork skills.
  5. Able to relate to culturally diverse patients and community.
  6. Bilingual (English/Spanish) very helpful.

NURSE PRACTIONER Family Practice

$140,000 – $190,000 

RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Medical Officer

I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Under the direction and supervision of the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner performs duties normally assigned in the general practice of ambulatory family medicine.

II. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides all patient care services as outlined in medical protocols under the supervision of the Medical Director or an M.D. designated by the Medical Director.

2. Provides direct diagnostic and therapeutic care including initial and follow-up visits to patients who may be seen for a variety of reasons.

3. Provides direct patient care including history taking, physical examination, assessment, health education and counseling, prescribing, and routine procedures.

4. Consults with supervising physician on non-routine matters.

5. Refers patients for M.D. evaluation as outlined in protocols.

6. Participates on Medical Quality review committee and in required audits.

7. Maintains close liaison with and makes referrals to specialists as necessary and approved by the Medical Director.

8. Actively seeks educational materials for patient use that meet standards of accuracy, quality and appropriateness.

9. Performs other related duties as may be required by the Medical Director or Administrative supervisor.

III. QUALIFICATIONS

1. Current licensure in State of California as a Registered Nurse and satisfactory completion of an accredited training program.

2. California Board Certification or Board Eligible as a Nurse Practitioner.

3. Prior experience in an outpatient setting.

4. Current CPR certification.

 

Job Type: Full-time

LVN

$33.00 – $39.00 per hour

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Patient Care

  1. Oversee patient care, including managing patient flow and adherence to clinical protocols.
  2. Assist patients by responding to calls and electronic inquiries.
  3. Escort patients to exam rooms promptly to maintain patient flow.
  4. Obtain and document vital signs, height, and weight in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  5. Collect and process laboratory specimens according to protocols.

Provider Assistance

  1. Support healthcare providers by performing diagnostic tests as per protocol or provider requests.
  2. Administer immunizations and medications, following approved guidelines.
  3. Manage pharmacy communications, including E-refills and clinical messages.
  4. Interpret and document PPD skin test results in the EHR.

 

Operational Duties

  1. Perform quality control tests on laboratory equipment as required.
  2. Prepare and stock exam rooms, including supplies for mass vaccinations and drive-thru clinics.
  3. Manage and resolve conflicts effectively while maintaining professionalism.

Staff Management

  1. Create and evaluate staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage and efficient clinic operations.
  2. Assign tasks and responsibilities to Medical Assistants (MAs) to optimize workflow and patient care.
  3. Provide training and onboarding for new hires to support clinic standards and protocols.

Quality and Growth

  1. Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) initiatives and Quality Care activities.
  2. Attend staff meetings and required in-service trainings to support professional development.
  3. Ensure flexibility to work at other clinic sites as needed.
  4. Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Professional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  1. Required:
    • Valid California LVN License.
    • Current CPR certification.
    • Proficiency in handling confidential patient health information.
    • Effective time management and teamwork skills.
  2. Preferred:
    • Familiarity with primary care outpatient clinic procedures.
    • One year of experience in an FQHC setting.
    • Knowledge of Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) standards and protocols.

Communication Skills

  • Maintain neat and legible handwriting.
  • Interact courteously and calmly with patients.
  • Communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements

  • Lift up to 40 pounds and push up to 100 pounds (on wheels).
  • Stand and move on feet for most of the day.
  • Hear and communicate clearly in person and over the phone.
  • Perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual accuracy.
  • Reach, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, twist, and turn as needed.
